Description
General Sosabowski fought in the defense of Warsaw in 1939. He escaped from captivity and, on the orders of a conspiratorial organization, made his way to France, where he returned to active service. Creator of the first parachute unit in the history of the Polish Army – the 1st Independent Parachute Brigade. Its soldiers believed that they would have a chance to land over Poland and be the first Polish soldiers to bring independence. The brigade was ready to land when the Warsaw Uprising broke out, but by decision of the Allies it was used during the unsuccessful Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands, where it suffered losses of almost half of its personnel.
The soldiers of the 1st Independent Parachute Brigade wore ash-gray berets – this is also the color of the dial of our watch.
